The most important features of a sleeping mat for our kind of travel are: endurance, comfort and lightness. That's why we chose the Pro Mat Extreme sleeping mats.
They weigh only 794gr (1 lb., 12 oz.) and when packed, their size is very manageable. Only 14.6cm x 14.6cm x 29 cm (5" x 5" x 11"). (size when inflated: 6' x 20" x 1" (183cm x 51cm x 2.5cm).
Their comfort and level of insulation, are indisputable. The mats have two zones of foam: under the head and below the waist there are holes in the foam to reduce weight, but under the torso it is a solid section of foam for more insulation to block convective heat loss. Their twist-lock valves and the fact that they are self-inflating, make them very easy and practical to use.
As for their endurance, it is true that after 15 months of very frequent use, they are good to go without the slightest sign of air loss. The rip-stop fabric on the top is not only durable, but also nonslip, which protects you from rolling against the tent's wall in your sleep.

Our overall impression of the two mats after 15 months of such frequent use is very good and we are satisfied by their performance. We recommend them.
We need to mention that in one of the two mats we noticed a flaw: after on year of use, the fabric started to separate from the interior material (the foam surface) thus forming a bubble under the head, which progressively got bigger making the use of the mat difficult – we had to use it almost completely deflated. We think that it was a random occurrence (maybe a defective product?) because the second mat is 100% intact.

The review comes after 15 months of frequent use (and everyday use for extended periods with short breaks in between).
